Val's Visitor

So Val's owner has come home, and life has returned to normal 'round here.  Mom and dad had been warned that Val had an occasional "visitor", and were shown how to set the humane trap that was kept near Val's stall.  Every now and then, someone was getting into the large barrel Val's food was stored in, prying the strapped-down lid off and even knocking the barrel over in an attempt to get to Val's kibble. Well, wouldn't you know it- dad went over one morning to feed her and, on opening the barn door came face to face with this pink, frightened snarling snout.

After resetting the trap, dad took the poor scared critter a few miles away and released him in the woods high up a mountain road.

The neighbor stopped by our house the day after she returned and told us the night before saw a large raccoon finding its way into the trap.

It would appear that Val have some very tasty food in her Barrel. That's quite a combination of visitors she is having. It's a good thing Cleo, and your food is safely in the house with the door shut. No matter what anybody else says I still think a possum is rather cute. We just had a big old raccoon using my large bird bath to wash his Muddy Paws in and leave behind lots of footprints.

Bye bye Val!

Last night, Sweetie and I watched our resident opossum search the yard for nibbles; we think he/she is living under the neighbor's back porch with the raccoon, groundhog and skunk.

Possums are fascinating creatures. I ran over one during my late teens and immediately burst into tears. I'm thankful your dad released this little one. :D

I love possums and I'm glad your Dad relocated and released this guy. Possums consume rodents and even snakes!

Dad did a good thing by relocating this frightened little critter. He also saved the kibble.

Wildlife is such a pain. I wish Val could live indoors. Why is there no photo of beautiful you? XO

That little critter will be better off in the woods and Val's kibble will be saved.

Well, that possum is probably better off in the woods.

Yep, sometimes you trap the strangest looking kitties!

We have one of those guys, and my human had to chase him away from the TNR trap several times last summer! Her boyfriend named him Possum Dixon (after an alt rock group from the 90s).

Hopefully he will be happy in his new home, but no more handouts.

Those are some teeth I would never ever want to make contact with...and that face WOW.
Glad it was successfully relocated but I'd be dollars to donuts the address is still in its GPS.

Cleo please tell Dad I just returned from a glorious walk in the 'hood so many purrty blooms everywhere even the rare pink dogwood.
