Power (Outage) Breakfast

So I'm trying out a new font here since we realized my curlicue one might've been a little too squiggly with some of the letters.  Anyway, as many of y'all may have experienced yourselves, a recent storm caused power outages of varying lengths.  The winds 'round these parts can be robust, (as me and dad write this the wind is, once again, whipping like crazy out there and the internet's intermittent) and a weekend or so ago caused more than a little concern what with the tall trees surrounding us.  We ended up losing power for several hours that Saturday when temps dropped through the day into the teens, and as they do, mom and dad made the most of things.

We all pretty much stayed camped out in the living room in front of the fireplace we're so grateful to have, and a little thing like a power outage wasn't gonna stop mom and dad from enjoying their typical Saturday eggs & bagels breakfast..

Sure, there's a propane camp stove at the ready and a propane grill in the basement, but they decided to rough it.

The fire stayed lit throughout the day, even after power was restored, and life went on.
Nothing's gonna stop mom from getting her tea!

Besides these photos, dad took one of what Yours Truly was doing the whole time, but it looked pretty much like all the other photos of me curled up in my chair, snoozing blissfully.  When I realized dad sent it to the "Deleted" folder I huffed and fumed, so he added this one from this morning to make me happy.

Power Restored, still taking advantage of the heat

So good that you have a fireplace!! It keeps you warm and can cook your food :) Still, power is better ;)
Hope you don't have to "camp out" indoors anytime soon . MOL!!

We have LPG for cooking so the most I have to remember is to light the gas with a match. You would be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't) at how many times I have stood with the electronic ignition clicking away before the penny dropped.
I bet those eggs and bagels tasted extra good!

Sorry about your power outage, Cleo. We too have a fireplace and it does come in handy at times!

The photo of you snoozing is delightful!

Without tea and cats, life ain't worth living, Cleo...I'm with your MOM!
We are experiencing snow today, and the temps aren't going above the freezing mark for a few days...dammit.
Glad your power is back, and watch those tall trees.

We love having a fireplace, too, Cleo. Your mom and dad sure did a great job of using it during that power outage. We loved seeing how they made their breakfast in it! We are glad your power came back on, and glad Dad came to his senses about that beautiful photo of beautiful you. Hugs! :)

Oh Cleo, I hope your fluffy bed was close enough to that warm fireplace
to keep your furs comfy. Who cares about a summer outage, we can open a
window. Winter, it's the pits. We had the one weeks ago and did use
the camp stove to cook noon meal. Kind of fun, but also a pain. Now, I
could really see using the Dan'el Boone fireplace often for fun.
It is snowing here for the 2nd day and to be 16 tonight and tomorrow
night. In like a Lamb and out like a Lion. Hate those sayings 'cause they
are right. 3 snows after the forsythia blooms, and it is trying to bloom.

Your humans are so resourceful! We have three fireplaces here - one is an actual brick oven - but I don't think any of them are in working order!

Ah, returning to the good old days, when life was so simple ... and did you light candles, too to lead you to your litter box?

Glad you had a fire to keep you warm. We lose power often where I live- one time it was out for 7 days- I am glad it wasn't winter. XO

It's good to have that fireplace and you could even cook on it! So necessary during a power outage in cold weather!

Cleo your staff are very handy with keeping their routine in spite of the wrenches Mother Nature likes to throw.
March is going out like a lion for sure. WE all know felines do as the please.
Hugs all around

OMG. Reminds me of the power outage during the storm last December. Yeah, we didn't have electricity on Christmas and NY which is a bummer. Hope you're staying safe!

That's kinda like roughing it...indoors! Glad you got your power back.

Very resourceful! If that were to happen here in our fireplace-less home, we'd be OK because we have dry food we could eat, but our mom would just shrivel away.

I giggled at your adorable snuggle pose. Thank you for that. And best wishes to your awesome mom and dad.

YOu and I have very similar weatger as we aren't that far apart and in the same general weather band, so to speak. We had the same well below freezing temps, power outages, and geberal weather miseries. XX to you, Cleo.
