About Me

My photo
Asheville, North Carolina
Hi. I'm Cleo. After being surrendered at Orange County Animal Services in Chapel Hill, NC I found myself being gawked at by a couple of humans whom I eventually adopted. I let them refer to themselves as "mom" and "dad", and they couldn't have found a better home than one filled with... me.

Getting a Leg Up on Dad

Nope, nobody's comfortable here.  When Cleo's mom and I first got my new chair the furry old girl (Cleo, not the mom) loved curling up on the footrest.  Lately, however, she's nap-migrated closer to my lap, and occasionally the tight space between my leg and the arm of the chair.

Is the old girl comfortable or what? I guess she's drained from all that Gotcha Day partying.

Happy 4th Gotcha Day and 17th Birthday to Me!

This past Saturday was my 4th Gotcha Day, and since mom and dad don't know my exact birthdate they decided to make this my birthday as well.  Were dad better organized he'd have posted on Saturday, the actual day.  As with many other things mom even had a note taped to the cabinet over his coffee maker. So yeah, here we go-

This is dad's entry in the Cuckoo Caffeinated Clipart Crazy contest.

Our Pillow Girl

When a lap isn't available

Mom had just finished making the bed one morning recently and left the bedroom, and when she returned there I was, all snuggled up in a warm little nest between their pillows.  Dad was almost out the door for work, and mom was buzzing around doing a million things at once as mom does.  What can I say- I just needed a cozy little place to curl up for my 18-hour snooze.

Old Timey Lap Photos

Dad's Two Beauty Queens

The Man, The Apple of His Eye (sorry mom) and an Apple
Dad loves sepia and black & white photos, and really likes the grainy, antique-y kind of look.  That's an apple he's holding, in case you were wondering.  He was home for lunch one day and was finishing up when mom snapped this one.  I don't have a favorite lap and typically alternate between the two of them, though they'll say I have a tendency to favor the one with food.  Let's just say I gave up a long time ago claiming it was love.

Gotta Love Them Glowing Orbs

Enjoying some dad love while he enjoys a French Broad River Brewery Scotch Ale

Waiting patiently for some attention.  Or food.  That's my step stool dad slapped together to help me get down from his chair

Look into my eyes.  Come to me.  Feed me.

The Big Girl Trying to Sleep
Dad loves the two middle ones the best, and swears these have not been doctored in any way.

About This Blog

Created in July 2011 this blog chronicled the everyday life of a well-seasoned, spoiled house panther named Orbit. He was a nearly constant companion for almost 22 years, and ruled our roost until he passed away in December 2014, and the loss of his companionship hit us like a ton of bricks.
After more than 2 years without a live-in feline friend we found this senior Tortie gal at a local shelter and just couldn't leave without her. Cleo certainly came with an abundance of purrsonalitude, and has staked her claim on our hearts and in our home since day one. It took some long, deep thought, but I decided to pick up where Orbit left off and let Cleo tell her stories. Of course from time to time I'll add some non-Cleo posts, but she'll get over it.
