As much as the old girl dislikes it I have another post that has nothing to do with her. This one's kind of a hodgepodge of topics, and I promise to keep it short(ish).
Cleo's mom and I explored nearby Black Mountain a couple of weekends ago. It's a laid back town with a wonderfully quaint little downtown filled with shops & restaurants, and we had a perfect- though a little chilly- day for some relaxed wandering. This giant red rocker was sitting in front of the visitor center and, ever the dorks, we couldn't help ourselves.
These are intriguing ice formations I found in the mud next door one recent frigid morning and I thought they looked pretty cool up close.
Every now and then we strike it rich and find some fantastic bargains in the produce seconds rack at the local Harris Teeter. Being avocado addicts we picked up a few bags of deep-discounted ones not long ago.
Overripe avocados are perfect for Cleo's mom's mouth watering sauce that I can't get enough of, and they made for a ginormous batch of sauce for many meals to come.
This final shot includes a batch of Cleo's mom's delicious thick and hearty homemade veggie chili, something I never in a million years thought I'd ever enjoy.
So there you have it. Now we'll get back to She Who Rules the Roost...

Cleo, it seems you may not have enjoyed the lovely trip abroad your folks
showed us. I enjoyed it, but Precious gave up and went to bed mid-stream.
My veggie chili has butternut squash and portabella mushrooms in it.
Hubby on the way back from Richlands, NC today. Precious and I enjoyed
a bit of warm while alone, but today it is 22 with a real feel of 10. Not
so nice.
Cleo, i appreciate ur face frownies at u're folks post. at least u got

That looks like a good bit of human fun sweet Cleo!!!
CLeo OMCs you literally had me rollin' on the floor giggling. Oh it is always so ABOUT you no matter what the Dad says. WTG girlfriend getting the last word in "so not interested'!!! I love it. Oh and I do love Black Mountain. I could easily live there. Hugs cecilia
Cleo, I cannot show today's post to The Hubby, because he is a total avocado fanatic...while I am not! He's put that sh*t on everything, but I ask him to limit my intake of the stuff. He's the chef around here; I just sit at the table.
Now, back to our regular programming...staring CLEO!
Hi there Cleo! Wow, you are one sassy cat. And huge... You should meet my big brother, Stinkie. I do believe the two of you might get on like a house on fire. You might even light the house on fire. I will forward your human mom a post or two that he took care of.
I'm so glad you stumbled on my blog! I might irritate you every now and then with all my fluff and cuteness. But hang around every once in a while. I love to talk books with my Mommy and it's always good to make new friends.
Here's a post for you to get to know me a bit better.
Have a good week and take care of your humans!

I want to visit! North Carolina's Outer Banks is my second home (wish I was there now) and the mountains are so lovely. Those ice crystals are super cool, too. And Cleo, your commentary gave me much needed laughter. Thank you, sweet girl.
OMG those cameo appearances by Cleo were HILARIOUS!! Just hilarious!!!!!! Don't hate me...I have TRIED to like avocados many, many times......I just don't like them! It's something about their texture that I just don't like. I know everyone loves them but I don't! Loved seeing both of you cuties in the photo with the chair. Cleo "ROCKS" (pun intended!!)
Me again, Cleo! Here's a fun Top Ten Tuesday post written by my big brother Stinkie. I think you two will be the greatest of friends and roam the whole neighbourhood.

Well done Cleo, for a post not about you, there was lots of you in it.
Mom bean likes that green stuff too though she never buys it like that - it comes in a container.
This post was most informative, but Cleo's take on things made me laugh out loud.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays. I love Cleo.
Have a purrfect day and week. ♥
Those are a fun mixture of photos. Of course the most fun is that cute little head that keeps popping up!
MOL! I loved Cleo's take on your trip. ~Ernie
Any place that has a big chair is worth the visit.
Hi Cleo, it was so kind of you to let your peeps take over the blog. Our Mom LOVES Avocados, but living in the Great White North (Canada) Avocados are not grown and they cost their weight in gold! So no sauce :( And the Chili looks divine. Cleo your peeps are awesome-as are you for letting them be hijackers!
Not a fan of avocados except in guacamole. Thanks for visiting us and we smiled to think of your dad singing Crowded House.

To expound on the avocado thing...The Hubby is sure that it's a superfood, and has all kinds of wonderful ingredients that are healthful. I cannot get over the sliminess nor the taste! However, let's now discuss ho-made hummus! I am a complete garbanzo bean fiend, and The Hubby makes hummus often; well, we're vegans, dammit! He makes it from black beans and from garbanzo beans, and sometimes he lightly pickles the beans first...and whoa, you will be blown away by pickled hummus! He will slather the stuff on toasted sprouted wheat bread, that he's rubbed with raw garlic, then put olives or roasted peppers on top for open-faced sandwiches. HEAVEN! His black bean sauce is my favorite to dip roasted sweet potatoes in; he thins it out by added some apple cider vinegar, so I can pour it on! AND, if you are a roast sweet potato fan, baba ganoush tastes FAB as an accompaniment!
We enjoyed your pics and descriptions. We love avocados! We love Cleo's side commentary even more, though. :)
