Cat, Cooler and Carpet- an Early Morning Digression

Cat, Cooler and Carpet

Dad drew inspiration for the title of this post from a dinner special served at a long-since-demolished restaurant in South Deerfield, MA where he honed his cooking chops in his previous life.
Beef, Bird and Bottle was a shamefully tissue-thin slice of prime rib, half of a chicken breast a l'orange, and a bottle of cheap-shit house wine.
The 1704, attached to what used to be a Motel 6, was located next to a sprawling wooded lot that would eventually become the Yankee Candle Company's flagship store. The restaurant, dad believes, took its name from the Deerfield Massacre. Wait, what were we talking about?

Dear Smudge, you look like one cool kitty sitting next to that cooler. At least your dad has some memories of previous life. The older humans get, the more memories are stuck in our head and sometimes we just have to let them explode out. You're very good for listening to him. And I had fun reading about it.

Smudge, you sure look Like someone who could be picked up and snuggled. But something tells me that is NOT on your usual agenda.

Smudge, it's called free-from association; just let your Dad let the memories whirl...just as long as he feeds you, amIright?

1. No, do not open the cooler. 2. If'n you see it open, do not get into it. We may never see you again for you may travel to strange places, or furreeze your furs. 3. The only thing we can relate to in this rambling of a post is that we love Yankee Candles and once ate at the 1789 in Washington DC which may or may not have some connection to the
1704?

Never heard of that restaurant, but I know where Yankee Candle is. When I go to Deerfield, I like to go to Wolfies. Was that there when he was young?

Smudge don't you wonder what is in the cooler? or maybe you know and aren't telling.

TBT: "Cat, cooler, and carpet". And old restaurants. In my teenage home, it was "The Flying Clipper". The place for fancy Mother's Day meals and the local sort of "rich and famous" weekly.

Loved the pic!

You look great, as always, Smudge. What, we wonder, is in that cooler?

Great title for your post, Smudge. The strangest things can bring back long forgotten memories.
