We've bought Smudge toys in the past, but their usefulness was always short-lived if she ever even paid them any attention at all. And don't get me wrong- we'd actively try to get her to play instead of putting them on the floor and expecting her to do all the work. So one recent morning, I went to put an empty toilet paper roll in the recycling tote. On the way past a lounging Smudge, I decided to drop the roll in front of her and, well, she had a field day with the darn thing. The pictures don't do justice or show how aggressively she played, rolling this way and that, biting and bunny-kicking it, and generally frolicking to no end as if it was the greatest thing in the world. Simple things, I guess.
This coming Tuesday marks Smudge's Sweet 16th birthday. We don't know for sure how old she is, so we're going on what limited records Brother Wolf Animal Rescue provided when we brought her home two and a half years ago.

Uh-Huh. Include: bottle caps, (short-term/supervised: q-tips), crinkle paper,
a pencil or straw (again supervised) ... ribbon, empty kleenex box (JUNE literally stuck her head inside one, I had to extract said head!). My hairbrush, similar to her brushie-brush ... yeah: we can put Chewy out of business with the au naturel toys found around the house. Soon to try the TP roll as one becomes available, thanks!

We are sending you early wishes for a Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns. Our Queen Tama is now 17, so we are well aware of the respect owed to senior family members (although we often don't "respect" the rules...).

Smudge, finally you'll be old enough to date! Sweet 16! But keep an eye on those boy-cats, they can be tricky. And really, don't hoomans know that cat toys at the store are just fur hooman enjoyment. We kitties know that the simple stuff is the mostest fun. Lynn bought me my furry furst scratcher bed last week. What the heck it that thing! It's hard as a rock and I got the bestest scratchy post fur keeping the claws sharp.
Smudge you are all about simplicity. These photos warmed my heart and gave me fond memories of Angel Madi she was all about simplicity too... THE TP roll is a Purrfect size to fit right between your precious paws.
OCMs will Dad be taking you to get your driver's license on Tuesday
