No Vacation/Paws Off

So we were all set for a week of vacation (translated: mom and dad were going away and leaving my daily needs to someone else) when things kinda fell apart. Dad put in for the week off and they planned a road trip, starting with finding someone to take care of Yours Truly. They met with a wonderful local person who agreed to stop in every day while they were gone to take care of my food, water and litter box and give me a bit of attention if my mood so desired. And then, right at the last minute, they received a notice on their door that the roof on our building would be replaced over several days- WHILE THEY WERE GONE! As we've mentioned before, I'm quite a Nervous Nelly when it comes to loud noises and such, and I freak out over every boom, bang, screech, scream or anything else out of the ordinary. Mom and dad did not wanna leave me alone while that kind of noise was going on right above my head. Fortunately, they'd been holding off booking a hotel and rental vehicle, and the only thing they'd confirmed was the person who was going to take care of me. She was very understanding, I was relieved, and mom and dad were mad as hornets. Dad's work is getting busy, so it might be a bit difficult, but I think they're gonna try again in the next few weeks. They did manage to hit the "Hands Off!" protest in downtown Princeton, NJ this past Saturday.

They said the crowd was huge but peaceful, and some of the signs were quite, umm, creative.

The supportiveness, cheers, and oneness were truly inspiring, and they only saw two very vocal dissenters, the loudest of whom got into a face-off with the very bold and fearless young woman on the right.
Now, I know mine isn't a blog about politics, but now is NOT a time to be quiet. Anyone else get to attend one of these?

Was not up to the bus trip from Baltimore to DC to attend but in spirit was there, YAY for you, for ALL! And double-YAY (tho unfortunate) for postponing that vacation on behalf of Smudge's needs and comfort!

Smudge, whata thing to have done! A pounding on the roof that is not 8 tiny reindeer! But it'll keep the rain out. Now that the rain storms are finally over, lol. We have frozen grass with snow on it this morn and you know who, is fit to be tied as she can not even have the door open, let alone go outside. Our tiny city had a Hands Off too, and we had a great turn out for a small rural county. Of course, this means nothing to the man "in charge" and his cohort E M.

That is a shame about their vacation but of course they would always put you first.
Well done to them for joining the protest against the orange man and his boss. That was a great placard about them, and the truth!

So sorry that your pawrents plans were messed up, Smudge.
I attended a rally like this one near me in Troy, Michigan, which is a Metro Detroit suburb.
The signs were fabulous; I'll bring one of my own to the next rally, which I'm hearing may by 4/19.

Too bad about the vacation but we know how scary a new roof can be!

It's so disappointing to have to reschedule a needed vacation. I hope they get it soon.

My heart aches for our world.

Charlee: "Yikes, that roof-replacing thing sounds scary! I'm sorry your Mom and Dada had to scrub their vacation, but see what great care they take of you? Humans: You have good ones!"
Java Bean: "Ayyy, that angry man sure has a very long list of things he doesn't like on that sign of his. Humans sure do like to find reasons not to get along with each other."

How disappointing for your mom and dad to not be able to go on vacation, Smudge. We sure are glad they stayed home with you, though. That roof work sounds scary.

Good for them participating in the Hands Off rally in Princeton. We participated in the one in Stamford, and it was really well attended and awesome. It was encouraging to join so many other folks during this time when we must speak up.

Hugs!
