Baby Steps No More- Revisited

So if you remember my post of the same title from April, I told you how giddy my mom and dad were simply because I sat on the chair with dad for the first time (obviously, these two need to get out more).

As things turned out, that was pretty much the only time I did that, and as I mentioned earlier, under the living room table near them was about all I'd give them.

Well, for the past week or so, I've taken to voluntarily hopping up onto dad's my chair to hang out on the raised footrest next to dad's forested legs.

I've even hopped up onto mom's chair and walked over the table between them to reach the footrest, which makes for a purrfect nest for me to curl up on. My dad thinks maybe I decided they passed some test or something, and I now consider them worthy of my closer company.

Now, I know this probably isn't very exciting for most of you, but mom and dad are crazy overjoyed, and dad considered it worthy of a new post, so, yeah.

Dear Smudge, as you know now, hoomans git 'cited about the smallest things. I think maybe it is 'cause they have smaller brains than us smart kitties. so you are doing the right thing to bring them happiness. They will keep you fur-ever and give you the bestest home, all you have to do is show some interest in them. Make sure you give them lots of picture purrfect poses to show off. Precious

Smudge...now that I'm over truly giggling like a 5 year old over the 'dad's rain forest', I would love to say what absolutely wonderful news that they have passed the test to be suitable humans. BUT we all know catz rulz change and one day you might have more requirements.

Oh yes! We understand their joy! Some cats are in your arms the minute they arrive and others are... more reserved. We have that situation with Momo who snuggles with Ollie and Benny, but seldom with #1. But she gives him the space he needs and she suspects that things will change one of these days. Good going, Smudge!

I totally think it's important news! Clearly the folks did indeed pass a test and i am very happy for all of you!! Frodo never used to be a lap cat but when he finally decided to give my lap a try he began by first sitting on the footrest!

Smudge, I’m kinda the same way. I don’t like lying on humans, but I’ll lie next to them. ~Ernie

Smudge, you sound just like our dear departed Peno. It took her ages to warm up, but when she did, we coulnd't get rid of her! She became a very demanding lap cat!

TBT: I understand completely! For example, LC was never a lap cat. She napped with her brofur Skeeter like Laz and Lori do today. But Skeeter (being a year older) left for The Bridge first.

After a month, LC hopped up on my lap and stayed for about 30 minutes. I was surprised and pleased. She found some comfort there and repeated that often for her own last year here. It comforted both of us.

We are glad you are stayin closer to yer Mom and Dad. And, yes, that was worthy of a new post...

Charlee: "There is no greater honor for a human than for a cat to decide they are worthy! That's why we are able to immobilize them just by curling up in their laps for a while."

We think it's funny how our Moms and Dads get so happy about things.

Thank you for your kind words about the loss of our sweet ManCat Raz. We miss him terribly.

Oh gosh Smudge...I have seen the joy when I do loving things too; and things that denote love. Our moms and dads are so happy when we show them and we are comfortable and happy with them.
