So this'll be our last post for a couple weeks. I know we haven't been posting but once a week or so anyway, but whatever. Mom and dad are finally getting around to taking a road trip they'd originally planned for April 2020. But then you know what put a damper on travel plans back then! They've both been busy preparing, especially this past week, dad dilly-dallying at work all day as he does, mom doing, well, everything.
Last weekend they went for a muddy hike at Graveyard Fields, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. They trudged their often wet, occasionally rocky way to the upper falls, where they enjoyed the seclusion that comes with starting out early.

And yes, I managed to take my own selfie😋. So anyway, they're hitting the road early tomorrow morning and winding their way north to visit assorted sibs, kids and grands in New England. Somewhere along the way there or back they also want to drive portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway they haven't yet been on, and Skyline Drive in Virginia. The lady who takes care of dad's employer's dogs will be stopping by every day to see to my needs and keep me company for a bit, and I'll be sure to rub mom's and dad's faces in how good she treated me while they were off gallivanting and neglecting me. Cleo, you will miss Mom and Dad but I bet you do get spoiled a bit. That'll be your vacation while hopefully they have a wonderful trip.
I know your peeps will have a good time and you have someone to take care of you while they're gone. You can guilt them for all it's worth though. I would too.

Despite this outrageous turn of events, we hope your humans enjoy their trip and you get treated like the queen of the house as you should be.

Sounds like your peeps are having some fun in some gorgeous outdoor spaces, Cleo. I'm sure they'll enjoy Skyline Drive. I'm sorry you have to be without them for a time, but they will be back!
While we are wishing your pawrents a terrific trip (well, this human is), June strongly suggests you keep your back turned to them upon return, she says ... at least one hour or so, appropriate for showing your displeasure at being abandoned. I mean when mine goes to the market for her food (or mine) she gets tail-whapped and ignored at least a minimum amount of time, and I may even scratch her foot when she walks by. You know, Cleo, it is very impawtent to keep them in their place ... which is Home. With You.
That does have to be pretty scary and lonely for you sweet Cleo.

We are sorry you are about to be abandoned, Cleo. We are facing the same fate in early July. We have the lady who looks after you is nice and will spoil you! And we wish your parents a fun trip. Tell them to drive carefully!

Hi Cleo ~ we just stopped by to say we hope you're not too lonely. We're missing you and hope your humans will be back soon and that you're getting lots of happy rest and good treats from your care-purrson in the meantime. Don't forget to show a few moments of displeasure on their return, it's apurrpriate to make your feelings known! After that you can give them really big kitty kisses as they are likely to give you, cause you know deep down they do miss you a whole-big-bunch.
