What Special Needs?

One of dad's handcrafted pieces of fine ornate carpentry has adorned our living room for a while now, and I wanted to share it as an addition to our  previous post about my steps and such.  When I first showed signs of limping he and mom tried to cover all their bases to make things easy for me.

As you can see, dad's my chair is, well, mine, but the height of the seat cushion was concerning. It only took a few minutes, but I trained myself to use this ramp with ease, and it's become a permanent piece of furniture.  Since feeling better I've taken to hopping up on the top platform, but still use it to go down.

As with the two-step thing they put by the bench in the other room, dad covered the flat surfaces of the ramp with carpet padding so I don't slip.

Dad's got a few days off for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I get to enjoy both of them together for a nice little stretch.  We're not doing much; just keeping it low key as always, and they're talking about doing some local hiking and other wanderings.  Mom made her mouth watering apple pie, and we're having a rotisserie chicken with fresh green beans & brussels sprouts and dad's yummy stuffing.  Oh, and the champagne and OJ are chilling for some refreshing mimosas.  We want to wish all y'all a safe, warm, relaxing and enjoyable Thanksgiving.  I'm sure as shootin' thankful for being an inside-only kitty with the temps what they are these few days!  Dad says it was about 17 degrees when he got up this morning.

Cleo you're 17 degrees beats out my 22. I won't complain I have Sunshine yesterday and again today. I love the ramp, how nice that your dad is so handy with a hammer and saw. That Thanksgiving dinner sounds like a feast, and hopefully they'll be giving you your very own you treat. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family. There's just three of us here and that includes the most important one, Precious.

That's a rockin' cool ramp, Cleo!
The one we made for Sweetie is two different cardboard boxes, so she can get up on the bed with minimal jumping.
However, it is temporary, since she still has to jump about a foot from the tallest box, so I'm working on digging out the junk room to find a better solution for her.
Obviously, Cleo, you and Sweetie have got your people wrapped around your wee paws!

Wow! We are impressed, Cleo! Not only is your dad sweet to make those things for you but that you actually use them! We have an aversion to any little help our mom gives, even that chub Izzy, who will not use any aid in getting up in a window. Now too heavy to make the leap, he just sulks.

Our lows here are around 17 degrees too... well, actually, if you count them in Celsius! Yes, it's a bit warmer here in SoCal. It sounds like you and your humans will be having a nice holiday, Cleo. Stay warm and cozy!

You are so loved. And you're smart for figuring out the ramp. Dear old, sweet Tilly never seemed to understand how she could maneuver via ramped scratchers and whatnot. lol
