Life on My Time

Okay, so here's what happens on occasional mornings when I think someone else in this house should be awake to keep me company no matter what time it is.  Mom always sets up dad's coffee maker the day before, so dad just has to hit the button at bedtime that'll make it ready by the time he slides out of bed.  Currently, it's set to start brewing at 4:30 so that it's ready when dad rises at 5:00, but more often than not he's out there once he hears it spitting and sputtering to life.  I seem to go through spurts of whatever you want to call it, waking mom and dad by 3:00 by walking back and forth over them, talking loudly, unable to settle and generally being annoying just being me.

This particular recent morning happened to also be the morning after dad snuck an additional cup of water and scoop of grounds into the coffee maker after mom had set it up (mom'll just be hearing about this for the first time when she reads this).  He must've known something.  Anyway, that clock was not changed to enhance this post.  He did, in fact, finish that whole pot by 5:45 a.m. 👀 Who does that?  Any other fiends out there?

The man of the house here is the coffee drinker. But he's not allowed to have a single drop until after I have been fed and my ears scratched in my belly rubbed in my bowl refilled the three times and I've had my cold water. After that I don't pay any attention to how much coffee he drinks. I'm only interested in me. Precious

Cleo, The Hubby has learned to limit himself to one travel-mug of coffee in the morning.
However, today, a new coffee shop opened in our town, and as I have the day off, we are making a date of visiting the new place, so he can get a cup of coffee and me a mug of tea.
In addition, you and Sweetie seem to have the same internal clock, preferring to rush around and meow at the earliest hours in the day!

You crack me up, Cleo. ~grin~ Oh, and my favorite Jimmy Stewart flick has to be a romantic comedy called 'The Philadelphia Story'. I may have to watch it again today. :D The clip is not a spoiler in case your folks want to check out this classic.

I make 10 cups...at 6 am. We finish the entire pot by
7 am...My name is Cecilia and I freely and happily admit to be a coffee fiend and even worse a coffee snob. We splurge on coffee since it is one of life's great joys.
We buy Peet's (brand) whole beans. I grind them in the morning. Our favorite flavors are Big Bang and Major Dickason. Apologies to Mom if I have given Dad a brain worm. But we like what we like right?

Our Mom used to drink a lot of coffee...but since she retired a year ago, her coffee drinking has gone down...that is because she does not get up at 5:30 (or earlier) anymore, but sleeps until 7:30 (if Kozmo does not get her up earlier). As our human brother works from 2 - 10:30pm and then comes home and eats dinner and is in his Man cave hanging out with us until 2-3 am, we don't wake Mom up in the middle of the night as often.
Mom says she would still be a coffee fiend if it did not have other side effects (like not being able to sleep). And we can attest to coffee pots being empty at 5:44!

I am the coffee drinker here and Ivor knows it is not safe to speak to me until I have had 2 cups. He brings me my first double shot at 7am when I have to take my pills, then he brings the next one at 7.30 and then we can have a chat.

I'm the coffee monitor in the mornings. Hubby sleeps later than I do and I get up and turn the pot on. It works for us. Hubby can drink a whole pot of coffee, but I have two cups each morning.

We don't have any babies anymore, but I remember them wanting what they want at whatever time they want it. Fond memories.

Have a purrfect day, Cleo. My best to your peeps. ♥

Our #1 drinks tea in the morning, and certainly not at those times! If we're lucky, she will open one eye around 8am...

I remember those days with the coffee maker going off Cleo, then the Dad and Mom gave up coffee and it's quieter now.

My human never drinks more than one cup, usually in the afternoon. She starts the day with an energy drink most days. That will probably change when her boyfriend moves in - he's a big coffee drinker.

Charlee: "We used to have a coffee maker with a pot like that but apparently nobody can drink Dada's coffee without watering it down because it's 'too strong' or something."
Chaplin: "So some friends who visit frequently gave us one of those Keurig things and now everyone can have just the coffee they want without having to worry about it dissolving their spoon when they stir it."

My mom bean used to drink lots and lots of coffee but she gave it up when she retired. Now she sticks to a couple of cups of tea in the morning and water after that.

You are so nice to help the beans get up in the morning. I'm certain they appawciate it furry much!

The dad guy makes the coffee in the morning around here, Cleo. The mom just hopes he doesn't spill the grounds all over when he does it (it has been known to happen...one too many times).

Well, Cleo, your time is my time. At least ever since the humans moved their clock around and I did not move mine. I sort of paw at her face and shoulder until she gets up and makes my breaksers. I paw without claws first, but if there is no response, I will let a bit of a claw come out for emphasis which will work better. Then for her coffee is mandatory or she gets very grumpy, like super grumpess. But she got a thing with pods and now can only have 2 pods which means she doesn't drink a whole pot. I really don't know much about pots vs pods, but I do remember a whole pot made her very jumpy some days, so I guess pods must be better than pots! Right?

That's early. Mom sets her alarm for 8am so that if she's not up by then, she gets her laziness out of bed. Usually we've woken her several times through the night so, in her defense, it's not like she's sleeping all that time.
