Dad's Mean Streak

Since we moved out here dad's job has proven to be  physically demanding at times, especially for one inching his way to 60.  This has made mom's job as nutrition coach/mom/doctor/personal trainer/worried wife a little easier.  For years she struggled to get him to shed some of his, umm, layers, but lately things have turned in the opposite direction.  Now she finds herself trying to figure out a way to add things to his daily intake that are good for him and will satisfy his late-morning hungries yet won't make him pack the pounds back on.  Mom's even got a calendar up next to dad's coffee maker so he knows what he can eat each day, and besides seasoned, cooked kale, canned salmon and veggie sausage patties one of his favorite breakfast additions is sardines.  Dad says he could eat sardines all day long, no matter what time.

Who gets a pre-breakfast breakfast?  What I wouldn't give to get treats like this!

It's a good thing I'm kinda in the shadows so you can't see the daggers I'm giving the big meanie.

On an unrelated note- Dad's dear departed youngest brother, who gave dad the sarcophagus mentioned in a post from August 27, 2017 and elsewhere would've turned 50 today.  Some of you may remember the sarcophagus, which sits in the living room right next to me currently, is the final resting place for old Orbit, dad's older bud Isaac and dear little Grayson.

Well, maybe you should just steal a sardine. We're sending purrs as you remember your departed loved ones.

We had sardines once sweet Cleo and they were pretty darn good too. That special place is a nice way to remember those special loved ones.

Mom bean says she'd give you the sardines Cleo. She can't abide the smell of them.

That's cold-blooded for Dad not to share some of thise sardines with you, Cleo. We are sending you and your family special purrs and prayers today as you remember Dad's brother, and Orbit and Isaac, too.

We be pinching noses here, not liking sardines so much. Well not quite true, JUNE might, who "nose" she hasn't even had the pleasure of a sniff since the human won't allow them around. Ah well, pleasure to one, poison to another ...

Yuk, sardines! Hubby loves them though. We had a cat who used to love sardines in tomato sauce. He would lick all the tomato off and leave the sardines!! ?Sending comforting thoughts as your family remember your dad's younger brother, and also the cats who came before.

How can he NOT share his sardines with you, Cleo? Even my stingy human shares on the rare occasions she eats sardines. (The smell clings, which is why she doesn't eat them often.)

He is a meanie if he won't share those sardines with you, Cleo!

He best share those with you. That would be cruel not to give you a bite. I am sorry that your Dad lost his brother so young. XO

Sighs. Pawrents can be so mean sometimes, can't they? He should totally share. I'm sorry about the loss of your brother.

We wish your dad good luck with the hard work. Sharing his food will you will help him shed pounds.

The thing is, Cleo...no one can change a person's mind but the person themselves.
And, if he shared his food with you, then he'd be eating less and you'd both be happy!
Hugs and purrs on this remembrance day.

We hope your Dad can keep things going with Mom doing such a good job of giving his such delicious treats. Hang loose Cleo we bet you will get a bite soon. Our Dad is retired but spend his last years working from a desk. Not the best but he thinks it was not so terrible after all

(((hugs))) to your Dad about his brother......those anniversaries are so hard! Had to laugh at the sardines, while I am not a fan, my Weight Watcher's leader is OBSESSED with them. She always talks about them and she eats them ALL of the time! Your wife is fabulous that she helps you the way she does, it makes it so much easier!

Cleo OMCs if Angel Madi were here she'd be all over the monitor. She always from kittenhood on love boiled eggs. She would come running when she heard me cracking them. As she aged and needed stinky goodness variety to hide pills she started loving sardines in water.
Your Mom is a keeper!!
Hugs Cecilia
