Mom went looking for me the other night since I hadn't gotten up on the bed with them at bedtime as I most often do, and she whispered to dad to come see where she'd found me.
Mom had been doing her cleaning and seasonal housekeeping and left a comforter on the floor in the spare room, and I'd decided I'd make that my new comfy spot.
While mom was preparing for the possibility of having to evacuate she'd stacked some clothes and toiletries on the bed, and as is my way I couldn't help myself. Up on the bed I hopped, sniffed the bag of things, turned once or twice, and settled in, the crinkly plastic bag my pillow.
Mom has been updating our hurricane plan stuff for days now and going over it and over it, and she and dad took a break yesterday to head to Carolina Beach for a bit.
Abandoned Carolina Beach |
The clouds, waves and wind weren't technically directly linked to the storm, but it was amazing to see how empty things were (though Britt's Donuts was doing a brisk business and smelled awesome!).
The waves weren't exactly monstrous but were rough enough to already seem almost menacing, and the rip current warnings kept most people out of the water.
Mom, observing from a safe depth |
We're keeping those who've already been affected by Hurricane Dorian in our thoughts, and crossing our fingers and paws that we'll be spared the worst of it.

You look nice and snuggly in the comforter. I hope Dorian steers you a wide berth. Keep safe and all those in the track of the hurricane.
I sure hope that storm leaves you alone and doesn't anyone, we'll be thinking of you.
My friends in Florida are breathing a bit easier, even as they stand ready just in case! Here's hoping you all get nothing but a passing shower from this storm; sending hugs and purrs.

Oh, I wish you all the best. North Carolina is our favorite destination, by the way.
Praying you will all stay safe. XO
Paws crossed that Dorian's impact in your area is minimal.
Praying you all remain safe and that Dorian doesn't cause any damage there! LOVE your new photo/header at the top of your blog, PAWTASTIC!
We're hoping by the time Dorian comes close enough to the east coast, it will have fizzled out a bit and everyone will be okay.
It's always fun to find a new, cozy nap location. That comforter looks like a perfect spot. I hope you all are safe from the hurricane.
Love the shore views. Be safe!
we're crossing our fingers and paws for you guys too!
The storm has slowed down a lot so we are hoping everyone is safe down where you live. Love that comfy spot you found Cleo. Purrs to you and the family
