So dad has been talking since we've been back about building me some sort of something or other so that I can sit level with the much-too-narrow window sills and watch what goes on outside. Well, I'm still waiting. I did hear him tell mom the other day, however, that he finally got some scrap lumber for whatever it is the genius builder thinks he's gonna slap together for me. It's currently collecting dust in the back of his truck. Oh well, baby steps, huh?
He's a big time procrastinator, so I'm thinking I'll see this contraption of his sometime in the next year or so, if I'm lucky.
Mom and I secretly share laughs (and frustration, at least on mom's part) about dad's procrastination. Oh well, nobody's perfect, right? (Except me, of course)

Orbit, I know exactly how frustrating tiny window sills are. The sills at our old house were about 1/2", great for an ant or something. My mom got one of those laminated shelves (8" or 10", she can't remember) as long as the width of the window (or as close as possible--she's not only a procrastinator but is frightful with cuts), attached two appropriate brackets on the underside and on the wall under the window, flush with the sill. This made a great space for me and my bro and sometimes even a sister, and when we moved, a little spackle did the trick. Easy peasy.
(Here's a real old photo of what I mean.)
Lovely Orbit!!!! Me and Charlie hope Dad gets to make you your windowsill so you can watch Bird TV! :-)
Take care

Our Mom buys steps, stools, ottomans, or anything else at estate sales or garage sales fur our perches. We have a procrastinator fur a Dad, too.
TBT is kinna like that too. He'll talk about making this or that fer us an nothin happens. Then all of a sudden, several things show up!
So, we shouldn't hold our breath, right?
Hope you get your perch, I need to make on. Thank you for the ideas ;) xo
Hope you guys get your much needed window perches!

okay daddeh, let's get going wif that shelf! kitteh needs teh window whiffs!
Orbit, it is great to meet you. how old are you? And I hope your dad gets busy with your shelf and that your mom pads it for you.
Our Dad puts little tables, or a desk, or anything like that he can find in front of our windows. That way we can look out the windows, and the place doesn't look like a deranged carpenter went through. Maybe you and your Momma can do something like that until your Daddy gets his shelves made.
