Tribute

You all know how I feel about sharing my space here, but I'll allow this one out of the kindness of my big ol' lumpy heart. We just passed four years since Miss Cleopatra went to the bridge, and, much like with mom & dad's crusty old pal orbit, her passing left them with huge holes in their hearts. As you all know, it takes beyond forever to get over losing us. We make you laugh, we make you cry, we frustrate you, and confuse you with our occasional weird antics and behavior. You're forced to clean up after us, keep us healthy & fed and generally allow us to be the bosses of your lives. And we're okay with that.

One Beautiful Angel
To mom and dad's surprise, last night's fireworks didn't bother me too much. They went out on the deck to see what they could once the booms started, and I lounged on the floor just inside the storm door. Sure, the noise got my attention, but I didn't go slinking off to hide under the bed like I do when I hear thunder.

Well, Smudge [June here] you're far braver than I. Good on you, am off 'n' away at the smallest noise, even the hall-cleaning-lady-with-her-too-loud-vacuum sends me running. Anywayz: happy day after to you and yours! Keep on hoping for better days ahead, keep on doing YOUR thing, such as it may be [like keeping those pawrents in their proper place], of course, remembering those who came before. And always, each your treats first: life is short.

We remember sweet Cleopatra. And she did make some of the funniest blogs. I'm not sure if it seems like four long years or four short years. We are glad to hear you managed with the fireworks. They were terrible here two nights in a row and quite honestly none of us appreciate them in our house.

So much time has spend by since Angel Cleo earned her wings, Smudge.
She definitely had her own way of doing things, just like you.
When we watched our local fireworks display, we stood near a tall building, so we got the reverb from the booms in front, then the echo behind.
So cool.

((((hugs)))) I can't believe it's been 4 years already!! OMG. Where has the time gone? Cody's anniversary was June 30th (six years), I was going to post but didn't (I did on Facebook). I'm glad the boomers didn't bother you too much, we had some last night but Roary and Levi did well! Roary at first looked a little concerned but then he was fine. Thankfully they all stopped at the 11:45 pm deadline. Sending love to all of you!

That's a wonderful tribute to the beautiful Angel Cleo. I'm glad the fireworks didn't bother you much, wish we could say the same here.

She was such a beauty. Losing you guys is life's greatest heartache! The city fireworks didn't bother Mudpie, but the ones that someone set off nearby at 2:30 this morning sure did!

Hi Smudge! What a lovely and special tribute to Angel Cleo. We miss her, too. Love and hugs to your mom and dad as they remember her.

Good job on being so brave with the fireworks. Ava does no seem to mind them so much. Target does not like them, but staying pinned against us in the bed seemed to comfort him.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of Miss Cleopatra. Even if it’s been a few years, it’s still hard.

I’m glad the booms didn’t bother you much, there is a different sound quality when you move from artificial fireworks to the booms from the atmosphere.

Smudge, Girl Friend, I am proud of you for not hiding. I didn't either. I guess we are strong LadyCats. Ya think?

Louie liked looking out the windows at the fireworks and did not mind the noise.

We remember Cleo. You're right, Smudge. Those that came before us definitely leave their pawprints on our humans' hearts.

Our 4th of July was kinda crazy...no electrical power for 3 whole days! That was not fun.

We are so sorry to be very late in commenting on this post. Our torrid heatwave has sent us all into a comatose state. We remember the lovely Cleo so well, and we miss her too!
