Hey all. So, even though the crazy low temps we've endured over the past weeks/months/whatever, have been replaced with warmer days here and there, it's been a crap few weeks 'round here. Obviously, we haven't been posting much lately. Between kidney stones (dad), head & chest colds (mom and dad) and sinus infections (dad again), well, yeah, fun times. I've been doing my best to take care of these two,
Nurse Smudge on Duty
and all I can say is, I'm glad felines can't catch human diseases.
They're lucky to have such an attentive professional
We're also going on more than two years living in a place we can't stand, and I know they miss the western North Carolina mountains more than ever. Dad says his creative juices have been zapped from his brain for a long time, but let's be honest- anything interesting, funny, or worth reading here has been mine and mine alone. Always an excuse with this one, I swear. Anyhoo, spring is on its way, and except for a couple more weeks with a few rain/snow showers here and there, things should be looking up, weather-wise. As with taxes, insurance and everything else, mom's been going bananas researching Medicare since a certain senior she and I know and love will be turning 65 later this year. Mom's always been the brain behind all this stuff since dad isn't capable of grasping or retaining such things (or so he claims), and, unlike the world's top procrastinator, SHE likes to stay ahead of the game.

My goodness me Smudge...I sure do hope you are getting proper compensation for extra duties. I send sincere wishes for only good health for everyone. You my sweet friend need a spa day.
You and Mom are doing a good job of making Dad look good.

Maybe I need you and mom to look after me too
Hugs cecilia
Mom and Dad sure are lucky you're there to take care of them, Smudge. We hope they're all better real soon, that the weather gets nicer, and that Mom can make sense of all that medicare stuff for Dad. Hugs!
You seem to have things under control, Smudge. We feel awful for all our friends in the US who are being affected by the ambient madness. Hang in there!
Purrs,
The Chans
You have been working very hard looking after your mom and dad, Smudge. I hope they are both feeling better very soon.
The online sign-in is easy for Medicare, I found.
It's best to set up SS accounts now too, even if you aren't using them yet.
My accountant dude says it's the best way to prevent anyone stealing from you.
You are a wonderful, caring kitty, Smudge.
That's a lot going on all at once! Lucky they have such a cute nurse :)
Just keep doing your best to deal with them sweet Smudge. Humans can be difficult sometimes!
Your folks are lucky to have such a good nurse on duty 24/7. I hope they both feel better soon. I deal with all my hubby's medicare too.
It sounds like things are a bit rough, living where you don’t like it, so much sickness all the time. Your mom is smart to stay ahead of stuff and I hope they can figure out how to make things work out better because it really sounds like they need a good change in their lives.
Smudge we are glad to be back because we went 30 hours without any electricity or heat or any of that good stuff. The winds knocked us on our butt. We saw your comment though that your mom broke her fever and we hope she's feeling much better by now. When had to do all that Medicare stuff a few years ago for herself and then she had to do it for the man who rubs my belly. He doesn't get any of that stuff either. I think that's just the way men are.
It does sound like you have between you, lots on the plate; not the kibble plate that is, as all us felines know that is nearly always empty ;)
Maybe a move to where you like being is in order?
Have a better and happier, healthier week
ERin
You are a good nurse. Gorgeous photos. :-D
Never had kidney stones but chest/cold/flu and sinus troubles yes! I take a raw clove of garlic and honey everyday and that helps. Since I've started doing this my sinus issues aren't as bad and I can shift a chest infection or cold within 4 days to a week without any meds. I honestly swear by garlic and honey. I hope your humans feel better :-D
smudge....sorree yur pawrentz R feelin like crapperz N hope they bee better soooper soon N stay better....tell yur mom UHC medicare advantage werkz for de gurl ~~~ her mite wanna chex em out if her haza chanze ☺☺☺they haz several diffrunt planz ta chooze frum !
Lulu: "Oh noooo, not kidney stones! Our Dada has had them four times and he says they are really, really, really bad. He says they are so bad, it took him a while to decide the brain aneurysm was worse!"
I wish everyone good health. Beautiful photos of Nurse Smudge.
Sorry you had so much illness but luckily you have a live in nurse
You make an adorable nurse. :) My husband takes care of all our insurance, etc. and went on Medicaid just this year, too. I'm sorry about all the illnesses. Worse yet, the fact your mom and dad hate where you're living breaks my heart. I hope you all can return to the beautiful mountains soon. Hugs, my dears.
Smudge, it sounds like you've had your paws full! Hopefully, your humans are both well on the mend by now.
