The Seasons They are A-Changin'

Ugghhh, flannel pants, fleece blankets, dusting off the thermostat and replacing the heat & air filter, putting away the shorts and tees and unpacking the long sleeves, heavy socks and jackets- yeah, these are all the bitchings and gripes I have to listen to around here.

As if there aren't enough real problems in the world to dwell on. Summer's moving on, the leaves are turning all sorts of reds, browns and yellows and dad just grew another year, and I swear, it seems I hear the above kind of dribble drabble more and more with each passing one.

Other than not being able to sit at the screen door, whiffing the fresh warm air, that kind of stuff doesn't bother me. I can make myself comfy and cozy pretty much anywhere, no matter the temperature.

I've been scouring the worldwide interweb for some cat-size earmuffs 'cause I know it's only a matter of weeks or days or hours before the plastic comes out for the windows, which brings a whole new round of whining and tantrums.

Mom and dad went to yesterday's No Kings protest over in Princeton, NJ, their second No Kings rally there since the June one and their third total in Princeton. They estimated the crowd had to have been at least double what it was in June, and other than being flipped off by 4 or 5 non-supporters as the MAGAmobiles drove by, things were pretty peaceful.

Yesterday: how good to feel proud as an American (vs often feeling shame). Paws up to y'all. SMUDGE-y, Dad got awesome photos of you, lovin' your close ups ... still feeling a little of yesterdays glow, we hold our bitchin' for another time. Happy Autumn ...

Yes, We kitties are certainly good at making ourselves comfy and cozy pretty much anywhere, whatever the weather. Mummy considered taking down the eiderdown yesterday, but She reconsidered and thinks We can do without it for a couple more weeks or so..

Smudge oh how I do envy every feline's ability to sleep anywhere, anytime under any circumstance w/o a worry in the world....except for the humans who THINK it is their duty to document every sleeping and waking moment of their felines

Smudge, sorry sweetheart, but I'm in the same boat as your humans.
Don't have enough closet space for all of my year-round clothes, so will have to pack away the warm weather stuff, and hang up the cool weather stuff.
Won't do it for a bit yet, as I'm stubborn and would rather just ignore the season change, like Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With The Wind...fiddledeedee!
I too was marching with my sign: "The Whole World Is Watching!" and waving at cars and chatting with other ralliers.

Smudge, I will miss my catio soon and very soon, but so far I don't really know it's gonna happen. I do know Lynn is now home evfurry morn as her bike is stored in the basement. I went down and let the air outa the tires with my sharp uncut claws. That'll fix her wagon next Spring. You just keep yer head down and eyes closed and maybe the peeps will be quiet and not grumble. You certainly have the nesting/resting look down pat.

We hear you, Smudge. There's only one human in this house so little point in her moaning and groaning, which makes it more peaceful for us. It's been relatively warm here so far but the heating will doubtless also have to be turned on soon. #1 did buy one of those bladeless fan heaters though. We're crossing paws it will work well.

It sounds as if the protest may have been more peaceful than the complaining around your house. But it appears as if you have a nice lap for napping, so things can't be all bad! You have the right attitude, Smudge! Fall is the very best time of the year.

My hubby complains about all those things, but I am loving the cooler weather. Since hot flashes, I love the cold. Good luck finding those ear muffs. My kitties have some from the American Girl Doll collection.

The humans here complain about those same things, Smudge. We feel ya! And like your mom and dad, they were marching in protest yesterday. The crowds were huge and peaceful, and the protesters got lots and lots of supportive horn honking and cheers. - XO Ava and Target

It may be nice to live where the seasons change and you see all the beauty of each, but the pot comes with the plant, you have to do the seasonal chores.

Oona: "Mama and Dada have switched to the flannel sheets here, too. This is because they don't turn the heat on until December or so. Oona does not mind, though, she can crawl under the flannel and get herself nice and warm overnight anyway."

My kitties have to listen to the same complaints. They are happy when the flannel and fleece sheets come out, though.

That's awesome about the No Kings protest your parents went to.
