Well, thank heavens the heat and humidity have subsided a bit. I'm thankful for air conditioning, sure, but I was really starting to miss the fresh air. Here, I fell asleep waiting for the front door to be opened.
And in this next one, dad made some stupid remark about my butt being a door stop. My expression matches a snappy retort I can't print here. Now that the temps are a tad more tolerable, I get to feel the breeze, smell the smells, and watch over the neighborhood again.
So, dad just told me, while deciding which pictures to post here, that he realized the majority of my photos show me lying down. "And your point is-" I said. He just stared at me dumbly like he often does, as I selected the next few. "It's what I do. I'm a cat."

Here's my take on it (at the moment anyway), we gotz nine lives we're told. I don't know fur sure which one I'm in just now, do you know? So I decided recently to be extra cautious with the "mine Mommy" complaints which admittedly I was overdoing, appropriately of course. You see, more and more, am reading 'bout AI, and "bots" and with serious concerns that one of them things could be my pawrent next time 'round (this one be aging out by the day) many of them seem quite controlling, not to mention weird and wacko ... so we cats living with the oldsters may want to rethink some of our behaviors and plan ahead ... know what I mean?
Smudge, I think you've got the laying down part just perfect. I do the same thing here as much as I possibly can, which is 99% of the day of course. We had a cold front come to starting Friday morning. And with it is darker morning so now I go outside at 5:30 it's really dark and I don't like to come back in. You have to keep your dad on his toes. He just doesn't understand the life of a cat.
We think your photo are all lovely, Smudge! We're heading in the opposite direction to you. After 2-3 weeks of pleasant temps, the mercury is set to rose to 30-32°C (85-90F) for a whole week starting tomorrow. We do not have AC but our ground floor is mercifully cool.

Well, Smudge...you could be walking on that jigsaw puzzle, pushing pieces onto the floor, or chewing on a few for fun.
Why shouldn't you lay down? It's what cats do! It is cool and overcast here. I think summer has gone already.
Smudge, thanks for stopping by my Musings blog, however you found it!
Your dad is being rude, what else should a sensible kitty do but take it easy and lie down as much as possible? π
Smudge you do everything with feline finesse all while being beautiful~~been cooler here too with less humidity thank goodness. No days in the 90s this week but alas they will return next week
Hugs to you and the staff
Cecilia

Smudge, I'm with you. I like having air conditioning but it really doesn't compare to having an open window where you can smell the smells and see everything so much better. ~Murphy
I missed you Smudge. And you rule, Never let them forget that.
A sleeping cat is usually a happy cat, so let it be!
Nothing like nice, cool fresh air!
Hooray for your fresh air and less heat. But you are always a cool girl sweet Smudge!
Well, of COURSE you lay around a lot, Smudge. What does your dad expect? Human are so weird sometimes.
As for what you said when he made the door stop remark, was it something like, "Kiss my door stop?"
You are a good kitty not to mess with those puzzle pieces. It is slightly cooler here, but the air quality is bad. XO
