Stationary Play

Playing's not my thing, and that's okay.

I'm a mature gal, as you know, and not all seniors like to play the way we might've when we were tots.

Of course, every now and then, the mood might strike, and I'll have a go at a shoe lace.

Sure, I've been known to chase a string around in a circle or maybe move a step or two to swat at it or grab it in my chompers.

But I must admit, my preferred method, when I do get a rare burst of playfulness these days, is a little more stationary.

And of course, if it involves the footrest, all the better.

As often happens, even a little bit of play wears me out, and there's nothing better after expending a bit of energy than a nice snooze. Wouldn't you agree?

Smudge, we mature girls think a lot alike. Lynn tries to get me to play. But mostly I just like to eat and sleep. Though she's pretty stingy on the food around here.

Smudge, that is the way Eric liked to play if at all! He would chase a long piece of grass outdoors but leave the energetic stuff to Flynn.

Smudge says, "I'll play under the following circumstances":
1-On the footrest
2-within grasp of my feets and teefs
3-when I'm in the mood
4-when the stars are in the correct alignment
5-only if The Mothership isn't sending a broadcast that I must listen to, ie, when napping.
See, easy peasy!

I also enjoy playing stationary. I find whapping at the pen mine Mommy is using when trying to write her grocery list on an old piece of stationary (which
in these days of email is totally useless) is the most fun ever, especially when I draw a drop of blood on her paw and hear her scream. In those moments the pen flies high, under the chair and since she is no longer able to get down on her knees to retrieve it, it becomes a hidden toy, for me to play with at a later date. A win/win event.

having breakfast, pooping, checking out the back door, scratching the S scratcher, eating 2 fresh catnip leaves, checking out the bedroom window, climbing into the living room pedestal, that is all fur morning exercise
