You know, for all dad's bellyaching this past winter about the chilly tile floor in our downstairs, I've gotta admit, it's kinda nice now that the outdoor temperatures are approaching inferno degrees. One day recently when the temps were still more tolerable, I enjoyed the cool floors while also getting in some wildlife-watching from our sliders.
The drapes were shut to keep the late afternoon sun from heating things up, but that also created a place for me to sort of hide. As is usually the case, it's not long before mom or dad eventually bothers me, desperate for my attention the way they are pretty much 24/7, and dad and his pain-in-the-arse phone ruined my few moments of peace.
Here, on another cooler day before mom took up all of the rugs, I spent hours just watching the world go by from our front door.
We're putting off as long as we can firing up the mega a/c since it's still not too bad in here, but what do you, my fellow felines, prefer as the leading intelligent species on this crazy human-controlled planet- fresh air and breezes or closed up confined air?

Smudge, I had a bit of a cool spell this past weekend and had windows open all the time. And spent lots of time on my patio. Now awful heat has been back for days and I'm silly enough to go outside at 3:00 in the afternoon. But it's in the shade and Lynn never leaves me out there more than a few minutes. She keeps wondering how come we can't bottle the heat in the summer for winter and vice versa for summer. Stay cool and be a cool cat
We haven't had the hots until the last couple of days when it managed to reach 68. I can imagine how good it feels for you on the cool floor.
Smudge, we have cool rooms with fans and a/c units, and warm rooms with open windows and sunshine streaming in. Da Boyz move around at will, but usually end up napping in a warm room.
And yes, I've seen "This is Spinal Tap"; what a spoof! And the fake Trilithons...hahaha! If your Dad hasn't seen "Best in Show", which is another excellent spoof, he should. I also recommend another spoof, "Paul", about nerdy British Sci-Fi fans who visit the US, and get more than they bargained for. ;-)

Morning Smudge...
I heard that PA was hot hot hot. Quite unusual. Yesterday my friend in Cooperstown PA has 87 degrees about the same time we had 88. Very unusual for that area.
I will speak for Madi...she was a heat seeking cat...
She loved following the sun as it moved from across the house. Her favorite spot was in the study under that sky light. During the fall thru late spring we did not cover the any of them with the solar shade. Around about June down the came.
I loved all you photos
Hugs Cecilia
Lulu: "I definitely like to relax on the nice cool tiles here when I can. I have way too much insulation for summer."
Charlee: "We cats prefer the open windows where we can watch and listen to the birds and the bugs!"

Stay cool! :D I feel sorry for outdoor workers in our current conditions.
My cats seem happy with the a/c when it is really hot, but they do like it when the windows are open too. I never complain in the winter, I love the cold. :)
... welcome to the wild new upside down inside out world ...
Our kitties really love their creature comforts, so I think they prefer the a/c and being able to look out a window. It has been so humid here that opening the windows wouldn't really make it very comfortable inside. And our house holds heat like crazy.
PS: I just saw that you were adopted from Brother Wolf! :-) Our Tara, Mortimer, and Charlie were also adopted from there. So were our rainbow bridge babies Cookie and Duke.
Great blog
We don't have that last resort option here, as we have no AC. So far, it has been very cool this summer, but things look set to change. Still, we are fortunate in that our house is built into a slope and the downstairs remains relatively cool even when it gets hot. Plus it has terracotta tiles on the living room and kitchen floors so that's pleasant. In the bedroom at night, #1 has one of those rotating column fans that makes things bearable and she has just bought some special blinds that are also supposed to help (once she actually installs them, that is).
Purrs,
The Chans
Inferno degrees - that's the perfect way to put it! This human prefers the AC, but Mudpie prefers the "fresh" air, although there's nothing fresh about it!
Where mom bean and I live, it has been rain, a wee bit of sun, rain, more rain, still more rain, a smidge of sun, and more rain. Today it is sunny and warm. I like to watch out the window from the comfort of my cat tree though it doesn't open for fresh air.
Enjoy your view!
Smudge, we bet those cool floors feel so good right now. Sorry Dad messed up your nature watching, though. Ava seems to enjoy the cool air blowy thingy. Target could take it or leave it, it seems. :)
Our A/C has been on the blink for months now. And now that Mummy has remembered about it needing to be fixed, of course, it's practically impawssible to get hold of a repairman!
It's not so bad for Us - We can lie on the cool floor-tiles. But She can't do that...
It's yucky weather here but at least our tomato and pepper plants are happy! Be well, gorgeous, and hugs to your mom and dad.
At my house in FloryDa we spent most of the day indoors hiding from the inferno outside in the catio. I love my catio so much! But it's dangerous out there. Last year Momma bought a cooling mat, filled with water that helped keep me cool when I slept on it. Unfortunately one of my brofurs peed on it. I think it was KC. He has issues. Love, Dori
