Sheet Happens

Dad hung up a sheet across the front entrance to our place because the cold air, as he puts it, seeps right through the effing walls.

That's me on the right
So I thought, great, cool, a new play area! It didn't take me long to learn to use the sheet as a hidey place, or mom & dad too long to get off their butts and use my toys to keep me entertained.
See My Paw?

Of course, they'll say things like "We always try to get you to play" or "You hardly give us the time of day when we try to engage you", or "Whenever we try to give you attention you usually turn and walk away" and, mostly "You sit there, begging for attention with your eyes and when we come to give it to you, you up and walk away!". I know, what whiners, right?

I'm tired now from all the complaining, so I'm gonna just sit here, half in & half out and rest a while. Bye.

Oh Smudge, you are funny! Of course we crave attention and we also love being given all kinds of options which we may choose to act on or not, right? You are nothing short of cat perfection!

Smudge, you're just figuring out how to get your mom and dad wrapped around your little paw. We think you're doing a good job of it and keep it up. We all be glad when the cold wind quits blowing but then they might take away your new heightened spot. We'll just have to think of something else won't they?

SMUDGE! That's US! We cats always do that to your parents...I can't think I ever heard of an exception. Way to go, Girl! By the way, you made my Mom laugh like a nut when she read the caption on your picture making sure we knew where you were located! Poor mom...she has little except what I bring her. LOVED the paw. A sure parent-getter. Then you can turn away again! Heeeee!!

That sheet makes a nice new tent to hide behind. Looks like you had fun playing while it suited you!

Smudge, you are training your humans well!
With Celestial Chuck and Angel, The Hubby had strung a sheet across the opening from the hall into the dining room, to keep out drafts, and that sheet became one heckuva playground, with the cats on one side, and the humans tossing and wriggling toys on the other side.
BTW, my brother found a exterior double-door for us, and that is now keeping the drafts in that part of the house at bay.
DYI, for sure, but an old house like this needs every bit of help we can find.

That looks like fun! Mudpie is the same way. She starts playing with something until I join her...then she's over it!

Nice play on words with the title. :) You should shock your parents and try cuddling.

Smudge! That looks like so much fun. And how nice that the sheet has compelled Mom and Dad to try some play time with you. :)

It is entirely up to you about how to engage the Beins in your home! We mean, if you give them too MUCH attention, they start to take it fer granted. Always give them "just enough" to want a little more.

All new things are interesting; rarely are old things interesting. You will get tired of the curtain eventually unless it is moved. It is all bad timing; you play when you feeeeeel like playing.
