About Me

Hi. I'm Cleo. After being surrendered at Orange County Animal Services in Chapel Hill, NC I found myself being gawked at by a couple of humans whom I eventually adopted. I let them refer to themselves as "mom" and "dad", and they couldn't have found a better home than one filled with... me.

High Atop His Royal Perch

Almost since the day dad made this thing it's been hidden behind the futon which, as it turns out, was great for me.  All I had to do was jump up onto the futon, then one more hop up the back and voila!  I was on my perch.
Well, now they make me actually use the steps!  Can you imagine the gaul?  How dare they?  Here I am, gracing their very dull, meaningless lives with my presence, and they have the nerve to make me work harder for my comfort?  I ought to disown them, dammit!

The real story is that our master, Orbit has a bad habit of not covering his... litterbox efforts, and tracking bits and clumps of litter throughout the living room.  It seems he's able to hang on to just enough of the stuff until he gets to the futon, where he deposits what we've been referring to as his secondary litterbox across the seat cushion.
Mom decided enough was enough, and it was time for a change anyway, so off the futon went to another wall, so now his royal highness has no choice (he's grown very fond of that perch since we've been keeping the windows open) but to use the steps.
He'll get over it.  He knows how to use them, he's just gotten very, very lazy.

Stuff and nonsense! Your Mom should simply resign herself to vacuuming 7-8 times a day. Whose house is it, anyway?

Good to see Orbit is enjoying his window aka Cat TV!

Hm. I think maybe you should make your humans place you up there, Orbit! You do have seniority, after all - you are older than them in cat years!

Ask Mommy if she'll just cover the futon with a sheet that can be shaken out. xxoo

Boy, they really make you work to get to your throne! For a senior kitty with sore joints, we think you need an escalator! Tell them our senior girl, Kely, highly recommends Glyco-Flex III if you are having any arthritis or stiffness...

About This Blog

Created in July 2011 this blog chronicled the everyday life of a well-seasoned, spoiled house panther named Orbit. He was a nearly constant companion for almost 22 years, and ruled our roost until he passed away in December 2014, and the loss of his companionship hit us like a ton of bricks.
After more than 2 years without a live-in feline friend we found this senior Tortie gal at a local shelter and just couldn't leave without her. Cleo certainly came with an abundance of purrsonalitude, and has staked her claim on our hearts and in our home since day one. It took some long, deep thought, but I decided to pick up where Orbit left off and let Cleo tell her stories. Of course from time to time I'll add some non-Cleo posts, but she'll get over it.
