Some New Post Keywords: Pumpkin; Turd; Syrup; Addiction

So lately I seem to be having some issues regarding my gastrointestinal system (my poop is hard and doesn't always want to come out).
Dad did some research, and learned that among many other natural remedies cats are supposedly attracted to pumpkin. Mom went out yesterday and picked up a can, and they tried to get me to eat it.
I took one whiff and walked away.  At my age I'm not much of one to try new things.  Mom also brought home a small can of moist me-food for those "special" times when I deserve a treat (ear cleaning, eye-booger cleaning, vets visit, etc.).
After I turned up my nose at the straight pumpkin I watched as mom mixed a small plop of it in with some of the wet food, and I'll have to say- it was actually pretty appetizing.
I'm a little uncomfortable with my pooping habits being discussed publicly, but they said they're going to watch to see if this helps.  Actually, dad gets to be the official "Turd Observer".
Dad made some of mom's delicious homemade whole wheat pancakes for dinner last night, and he decided to try some of the pumpkin in his half of the batter, along with a few raisins.  Mom didn't much care for them, but dad loved them, and since he's been trying to do without sugar these days the bath of pure Vermont maple syrup he gave his pancakes sent him spiraling into a sugar stupor.
Mom has to monitor the flow of that stuff, and she thought dad might have had his shit under control.  All she could do was shake her head as she watched him lick the syrup dripping from the rim of the ginormous jug they brought back from their trip to New England.

My roommate Binga has been taking lactulose for the same problem. My human gets it from the vet, but she keeps wanting to get some pumpkin to see if it will do the trick as well.

I have this problem being a Manx.
Mom has to take me to the Vet to get a "colonic" because I was all clogged!
After that her remedy is to mix organic pumpkin, organic milled flax and slippery elm into each of my meals. I love it and it keeps the pooper in great working condition!

Ah yes the old back end business. Two brofurs Rumpy and Buddy have issues. Rumpy is a dribbler and Buddy is an elder who is clogged at times.
Dad makes them homemade cooked cat food (they refused raw) and, amazingly, it helps both issues. He says its something about healthy small bowel tissues and other geeky science stuff.
Something to try if you would want is a bit of guar gum. It is super powerful so only a tiny bit in warm water (mix like your Dads Syrup) and then mix it into fancy feast or you fav.
He also has food recipe on his stinky blog which you can find from our blog and...

Will sweet potatoes help??? I LOVE mashed sweet potatoes. Worth a try, anyway.

There is a moist pouch cat food by Wereva called "Pumpkin Jack Splash", that Skootch used to like. He used to have the clog problem, and Mom got, like, a year's supply of Lactulose. But NOW that the kittens are here he's so nervous that he has gone the "other" way, and mom can't figure out what to do about THAT!

Canned pumpkin is the bomb! We are using it for Chucky (who is a black cat like you, Orbit) and it has really helped his constipation. Except when he goes outside and eats up grass...

Mom says that if she laughs any harder that she might wet herself. She's kinda old as well. Hope that pumpkin does the trick. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
